Martin (Marty) Lane, CDMarty Lane is a retired Master Warrant Officer of the Governor General’s Foot Guards who has dedicated decades of service to the Regimental Association and Museum.
• Association Leadership: He has served on the Executive Committee of the Foot Guards Association for many years, holding positions such as Treasurer in the early 1980s and serving multiple terms as President (elected in 1985, and again in 2004, serving through the 2010s).
• Museum and Kit Shop: Lane served as the Curator of the Regimental Museum and managed the Regimental Kit Shop for decades now. He worked closely in these endeavors with his wife, Estelle Lane (who was also the editor of The Guards Star), and they were both recognized for their volunteer work with an award at the 2014 Annual Dinner.
• Personal Life: He is married to Estelle Lane, and they received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal together in February 2003. He remains active in sports well into his retirement; in 2002, he was noted for playing in a Seniors Hockey League. In 2007, he and his wife walked the 1600 km El Camino in Spain for the second time.
